Noa Health offers cosmetic acupuncture treatment in Westport. This treatment enhances your appearance naturally, without the risks associated with surgery and cosmetic injections. Iris is trained in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, a painless and non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process. While some refer Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture as an Acupuncture Facelift, it is far more than a cosmetic procedure - it's a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. The benefit of acupuncture in this setting impacts the body inside and out. An acupuncture facial can be performed using acupuncture alone or combined with a micro-current ultrasound, Jade Technique.
Patients who receive esthetic treatments may also receive whole body acupuncture at the same time. In a single session this treatment method will improve overall health and appearance simultaneously. The Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatment is based on the principles of Oriental Medicine and involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into particular areas of the face, ears, neck, hands, trunk, and legs along channels or meridians of Qi.
*Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture should not be administered during pregnancy, or during a bout of a cold, flu, acute allergy, or if experiencing an acute herpes outbreak.
As we age, our faces begin to change—it’s inevitable, and everyone is different. Some may see an abundance of wrinkles, while others may see jowls, shadows under the eyes, or drooping eyelids. Unfortunately, the more stressed one is, the more it shows in one's appearance. Michelle Dominique Leigh’s book Inner Peace, Outer Beauty sums it up perfectly: “At the age of forty, the mind is visible on the face."
While many women now choose to combat the aging process with procedures like microdermabrasion, injections, and plastic surgery, these options are expensive and not always the safest. And as we all know by now, the results can be less than ideal.
Facial acupuncture is a safe and natural alternative to invasive anti-aging procedures and chemicals. This ancient Chinese practice, which was used as a beauty treatment for concubines as far back as the Sun Dynasty (960-1270 A.D.), uses fine-gauge needles placed in specific “problem” areas on the face, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, mouth lines, and jowls. When the needles are injected, tiny traumas to the skin are created. This triggers a physiological reaction that sends increased circulation and collagen to the “wounded’' area.
Collagen is the main protein in our bodies, and is what makes our skin, bones, and cartilage strong and elastic. As we age, our collagen production decreases, which is why we see the structural integrity of our skin (and everything else) decline. So when the body sends these small amounts of collagen to “heal” these minuscule puncture wounds, the skin will begin to appear smoother, fuller, and brighter.
Iris offers facial acupuncture as part of her whole-body, female-focused practice. Because each patient is different, Iris recommends anywhere from 12 to 15 treatments, administered once or twice a week. Results will depend on the age, health, and lifestyle of the patient, but may be seen as early as the first treatment, though patients will usually see improvement in their appearance around the seventh treatment.
